Sexuality and Intimacy in Multiple Sclerosis

Sensory disturbances like burning, pain or tingling in the genital area can be relieved with carbamazepine ( Tegretor) or phenytoin (Dilantin).

In the case of decreased vaginal and/or clitoral sensations a more vigorous manual or oral stimulation with a use of a vibrator has proven to have good results.  Women can also use strap-on clitoral vibrators for a more intense clitoral stimulation.

Other good ways to overcome sensory changes are exploring alternative sexual touches, behaviors and positions, searching the ones that are most pleasurable.
