Sexuality and Intimacy in Multiple Sclerosis

One way to achieve an erection without surgery or use of medication is the vacuum erection device (VED). This is basically a vacuum tube with a pomp that is placed over the flaccid penis. The vacuum draws the blood into the penis, and a rubber band is used to keep the blood in the penis. Men that use this method must be careful not to hold the rubber band more than 30 minutes since it can damage veins and penile tissue.

There are also a number of sexual aids, like strap-on latex penises, strap-on battery operated vibrators, etc. It is always best to ask advice from an urologist or sex therapist that is familiar with when choosing a sexual device to aid with erections.
