sexuality and intimacy - 2.jpg

Sexuality plays an important part in one’s life, and this is why this book has extensive information regarding sexuality and intimacy in Multiple Sclerosis.

Sexuality has a strong impact on one’s identity and personality, but also the nature of one’s personal relationships and life spam. It can be seen all around us, in art, language, literature, religion, music, television – it is universal and omnipresent.

A physical illness like Multiple Sclerosis, has the potential to complicate the sexual development and the ways through which one expresses and defines one’s sexuality.

Until recently, studies regarding sexuality and MS were of questionable nature, and people suffering from this illness didn’t have enough knowledge and information to adapt their sexuality to their new condition. However, the results of a study made in 1999 by Zorzon and his colleagues revealed that 73% of the people with MS suffer from some type of sexual dysfunction. The same study revealed that more men than women with MS experienced problems and reported changes in their sexual function.
