Multiple Sclerosis Symptoms

This is a unique symptom that occurs in MS – the paroxysmal electrical short-circuiting of the spinal cord. This symptom usually means repeated episodes of sensory disturbances of spasms.

These spasms can be frightening, especially for the first time. This is because they start in the upper extremity of the body and then spread to the legs or the face. This problem is treated with anticonvulsants, mainly with carbamazepine. Once the problem is solved, the medication can be withdrawn.
