Multiple Sclerosis Questions and Answers

As you are well aware of, multiple sclerosis is a demyelinating disease. This means the myelin coating around your axons and neurons are affected by it. Think of the myelin as the coating of an electrical wire. What this does, is to make sure that when electricity travels through it, it doesn’t short-circuit. Since our nervous signals are electrical signals, demyelination leads to short-circuiting, which leads to all those unpleasant MS symptoms like pain, balance problems, vision problems, digestive problems, muscle weakness, fatigue and such.

It is well known that there is no cure for multiple sclerosis, the treatment available being symptomatic and trying to slow down the progression of the disease. This means that if you take treatment, the symptoms you experience will be minimized and that your condition’s progression will be much slower.

At the same time, if you don’t get treatment, you’ll experience the symptoms at their full potential, and the progression of your disease will be much faster. Usually persons that don’t get treatment see themselves living a very difficult and painful life, and often get disabled, not being able to do anything on their own. This is why, you should always get treatment!
