Multiple Sclerosis Questions and Answers

There are many people who have a relative with MS and fear that they can also develop the condition.
For the moment, the cause of this illness is unknown, so the information on prevention is scarce. However, according to statistics, people further from the Equator have more chances of developing the disease. This is related to vitamin D deficiency – vitamin D is produced when our skin is exposed to the sun.

According to studies, there is a strong link between Vitamin D deficiency and a number of autoimmune diseases, including Multiple Sclerosis. These studies revealed that this condition can be prevented by supplementing vitamin D intake, especially in children.

It is needless to say that Vitamin D is one of the best available (and cheap) ways of prevention for MS. However, there are no studies to reveal how an increase in vitamin D intake prevents MS in adults, and the answers to this question are speculative. No matter the case, supplementing one’s intake of Vitamin D can’t do any harm – however, no high dosages since this can lead to several unpleasant symptoms and complications.
