Multiple Sclerosis Diet

Reducing the amount of dietary fat is equally important for a “healthy” person as well for someone with MS. Below there are some suggestions for some on Multiple Sclerosis Diet:

- Decrease or omit the use of butter, spreads, margarine, mayonnaise and salad dressing.
- Avoid deep frying, because it increases the fat content of many foods. Instead, learn to bake, broil, boil and microwave; also, use nonstick cooking pans
- Decrease the amount of meat you consume. Red meats contain more fat than calories. Eat poultry, fish, lean cuts of beef like rump, round and flank
- Dairy products are high in fat so avoid them.
- The key is moderation. Any food can be eaten, but in moderation – enjoy it and blend it into a sensible nutritional life-style.
