This is because Multiple Sclerosis can seem scary at first, with its large number of symptoms, with its disabling nature and because there is no cure for the moment. Because of the demyelinating nature of this disease, is not uncommon for MS patients to suffer from depression (even prior to be diagnosed). As one can assume, a diagnosis can only make depression worse, especially if the doctor of the person that diagnoses doesn’t know how to break the news to the patient. Of course, living with MS isn’t always a piece of cake- even if this depends on the type of MS one has. There are better days, and there are worse days. However, seeing how there are times when one can’t do all the things he or she was able to do, or seeing how this happens gradually, can have a deep psychological impact on the sufferer. This is why, it is recommended, that besides medication, MS patients undergo therapy – CBT is usually recommended because it helps them adapt faster and better to their new lifestyle and find coping mechanisms that work fast. The importance of counseling or therapy cannot be underlined enough when it comes to MS. This condition can slowly drive someone mad, because there are so many things that one needs to adapt to, and there are things that one needs to give up. Of course, suicide can seem to be a shadow that follows MS patients, but this only to the outside world. Most MS patients, even if they are depressed, even if they are disabled, and even if they don’t have the same daily routine and had to give up some things, they still like life as much as any other person. However, it is always recommended to be there for the person with MS, to remind him or her that with medication, therapy and love he or she will be able to overcome most of the things that now seem impossible. Also, the thing that is always a good news is the fact that there are treatments and therapies like CCSVI and stem cell therapy that show great results in the treatment, reversal and curing of MS ( mostly for relapsing remitting patients where the brain damage is not that extensive). No matter the case, these advances in MS are and shed a light of hope on all MS patients, and sooner than expected, a cure will be found!

The diagnosis of Multiple Sclerosis can be a very difficult one, and it can take years until a person is properly diagnosed. This is due to the fact that MS has a wide variety of
